One kaomoji a day, and a face for every mood

What the kaomoji of the day is

Every day this page shows one text face, chosen for you from a curated pool of friendly expressions. Think of it as a small daily prompt rather than a news feed: you open the page, meet a face such as a smile, a sleepy yawn or a nervous shrug, and decide whether it fits something you want to say. You can copy it, remix it in the face editor or send it to someone. The pool is made of faces that already exist in the library, so each one has a name and the same exact characters you would copy from a category page. Nothing here asks you to sign in, follow anyone or collect points.

How today’s face is chosen

The pick comes from a simple formula. Your browser reads today’s calendar date in your own time zone, turns that date into a number with a small hashing routine and uses the number to select one face from the pool. The same date always gives the same face, so two people in the same time zone see the same kaomoji all day, and it changes when your local midnight passes. Because this site is static, the page source also contains a fallback face based on the build date in UTC, which appears if scripts are unavailable. No server decides the result, no popularity score is involved and your earlier visits are not needed to calculate it.

Pick a face by mood

Below the daily card, the mood picker offers nine feelings: happy, sad, angry, love, sleepy, shy, surprised, excited and confused. Choose one and the page suggests three faces that match. Press Shuffle to see another set for the same mood without reloading the page. The suggestions come from hand-selected faces in the library, and the result for a given mood, date and shuffle count is repeatable, which makes it easy to return to a face you liked. A mood is only a starting point. If none of the three suits your message, open the matching collection, such as the happy faces, for many more options.

Copy it the way your app needs it

Each suggestion has a Copy button for the exact text and a Copy as menu for other formats. Plain text is the default. Escaped Markdown adds backslashes before characters that Markdown may treat as formatting. Inline code and code block wrap the face so it is shown literally, HTML entities convert it for page source, and the JavaScript string and JSON string options produce text you can paste into code. Every destination handles text a little differently, so preview the result before you post it. If automatic copying is blocked, a dialog shows selectable text and you can use your device’s Copy command instead.

Share the daily face with a link or a card

The Share button opens a panel with two main options. Copy link creates an address that carries the face after the hash mark, a part your browser keeps to itself and does not send to our server when someone opens the link. Download card draws a picture of the face on your own device, which you can attach to a message or a post. Where your browser supports it, another button can hand the card or the link to a different app. Anyone who has the link can read the text inside it, so avoid sharing private words. Very long messages do not fit in a link, and then only the card is offered.

Make it your own, and know the limits

Use Remix on the card to open the face in the editor and change its eyes, mouth or arms, then save your own version there. To keep a favorite from the library, open its collection page and use the heart. Saved items live in this browser, so they do not follow you to another device and may disappear if you clear site data. Appearance also depends on the font in the app where you paste: a symbol that looks neat here may turn into an empty box elsewhere. If that happens, try a simpler face from the same mood. The daily pick is a light-hearted idea, not advice, and it makes no claim about which faces are popular.

A few things you might wonder

How is the kaomoji of the day chosen?

A small formula turns your local calendar date into a number and uses it to select one face from a curated pool. The same date gives the same face in the same time zone, and the face changes at your local midnight.

Does the page use my history to pick a face?

No. The choice is calculated in your browser from the date alone. Like the rest of the site, the page may count anonymous visits and copy events, but your history does not influence the face.

Why does a friend see a different face today?

The date decides the pick, and people in other time zones may be on a different calendar day. If you share a time zone, you should see the same face, although a cached page can show its fallback face until scripts run.

Can I choose a mood and copy the result?

Yes. Pick one of nine moods, press Shuffle for new suggestions, then use Copy or Copy as. Copying never changes the face you see.

Is a shared link safe to open?

The link stores the face after the hash mark, which your browser reads locally and does not send to the server. The page checks the text and shows it as plain text. Anyone with the link can read what it contains.
